Position: Microwave Engineer
Location: Kansas City, MO (will consider Remote)
Duration: 6 - 12 months (possible extensions)
Rate: $40/hr - $45/hr

Scope:
This position involves developing low-latency high-capacity wireless networks:
Responsibilities:
- Design, implementation and optimization of a wide range of wireless technologies.
- Line-of-sight RF link design, system tuning and optimization, interference measurement/tracking, and general RF troubleshooting.
- Site selection, surveying and site acquisition by identifying and qualifying potential sites and paths for the networks
- Link budget creation and system performance prediction.
- Use of RF and network test equipment to measure and evaluate performance of system in laboratory and field testing.
- Analysis of test results and close interaction with NOC and business teams to optimize the network.
- Understanding FCC and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Working with frequency coordinators to reserve and license frequencies in regulated bands.
Requirements:
- 10 years or more experience in the telecoms industry (mobile operator/integrators)
- Knowledge of one or more planning tools (ATDI/Pathloss/SiteSync, etc.)
- A mix of office and field experience
- Field experience should include some rigging, dish alignment and fault finding
- Comtrain certified climber (or comparable)
- Detailed knowledge of telecom network equipment
- Detailed knowledge of telecom standards and practices
- Detailed knowledge of point to point microwave
- Knowledge of network management systems
- Strong knowledge of TCPIP / IP networking
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, including Excel and Visio.
- BSEE, BSEET, BSCE or similar technical degree
- Understand RF principles/theory (Signal Path, Power, Frequency, Noise, Modulation, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of RF Systems such as transmitters, receivers, and antennas.
- Experience designing microwave paths and developing RF link budgets
- Solid understanding and hands-on experience with RF and network test instruments and tools
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Willing to travel domestically up to 40%
- Experience with a GIS system such as ArcGIS or Mapinfo is a plus
